Measure Would Move Control of Chappie-Shasta OHV Area to Single Entity
Last Tuesday, U.S. Representative Wally Herger (R-Ca) proposed a measure to the US House which would take land in Northern California that is currently controlled by both the BLM and the US Forest Service and move it to BLM's exclusive control.
House Resolution 689 passed in the house by majority voice vote and now goes to the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee for further consideration. Contact your Senators to let them know you support this measure.
Rep. Herger said in a speech to the House:
Issues such as duplicative permits-at substantial and unnecessary cost to the users-and even different opening dates for the same area have resulted in frustration from the thousands of users, from across California and elsewhere, who try to cope with this redundant management.
