In 1995, the Tacoma became Toyotas compact truck. The Tacoma is designed in the U.S. and built in Fremont, CA and accounts for 10 percent of Toyotas U.S. sales. In 1998, Ivan "The Ironman" Stewart helped develop the Toyota Tacoma PreRunner. Stewart based the style similar to the desert racing trucks that made him popular. The Prerunner has all of the looks of a 4X4 but it's a 4X2.
