Some of the positive things that four-wheelers have done to improve public lands and maintain local roads. For those who think that four-wheelers have such a negative impact on the land, perhaps you'll see this just isn't so. And for those actively fighting the fight to save our riding areas, you might be able do some of these same things in your local area!
Colorado Association of 4WD Clubs
This Adopt-A-Road program consists of more than 30 different Colorado 4WD clubs maintaining popular 4WD roads. Most of these clubs maintain more than one road each, resulting in nearly 100 individuals trails being maintained by 4-wheelers in the Colorado area alone!
Four Wheelin' Women Raise Money
The Four Wheelin' Women ATV Charity Ride in Parry Sound, Ontario raises a significant amount of money for "Male Breast Cancer Awareness" each year. This fundraiser was started in 2000, when the father of a Parry Sound resident died of breast cancer.

Long Island Off Road Trail Cleanup
This 4-wheeling club took out 18 tires, a freezer, lots of trash, including a torn plastic bag filled up with nasty, disgusting and well-used disposable diapers, plus lots of metal and other large items, like pieces of dishwashers, signs, mattresses, couches and other yucky stuff. All this before they even reached the trailhead!
Lost Coast 4x4 Cleanup
This Eureka, California group got the attention of the local press! The Times-Standard ran photos of the club's clean-up efforts on their front page. And both local TV stations (KIEM and KVIQ) ran stories and photos of the clean up. CalTrans even agreed to install "Dumping Prohibited" signs in the area.
Lost Coast 4x4 Accomplishments
This off road club is doing such a great job in their local area, they deserve two links! This group is a great example for other 4-wheeling clubs. They are truly committed to protecting and maintaining public lands. Thanks for all you do Lost Coast 4x4s!
Ocala Jeep Club USFS Appreciation
The Ocala Jeep Club received this certificate and letter of appreciation for performing maintenance on The Yearling Trail at Pats Island, in the Ocala National Forest.
Oklahoma Trailchasers' Adopt-A-Highway
Four times a year, this 4-wheeling club meets for a walk down the highway to pick up trash along the Oklahoma roads.

Texas A&M Offroad Highway Cleanup
This off-road club cleans up a 2-mile stretch of Highway 6 four times a year as one of their community service projects.
Trolls 4WD Club Trail Cleanup
After two days of hard work, and 75 yards of trash later an entire section of forest is now clean thanks to the Trolls 4WD Club out of Indian River, Michigan.
Two Rivers Jeep Club Trail Building
Trail building and maintenance are as much a part of this club as are the major 4-wheeling events. Heavy undergrowth, floods, slides, and vehicles all contribute to the degradation of the trails. They spend 8-12 weekends each year just keeping the trails in shape and making new ones so they don't destroy the land by over-use.
