Len Delunas is a Regional Manager with RM Asia and has been in Kabul since 2002. He noticed a post about SORVs and added some comments, insight and a few photos to enjoy. Here's what Len posted:

The US Army has only purchased a few F350's - mainly through KBR. The biggest user of F350's is DynCorp International, a Dept of State contractor mentoring the Afghan National Police.

The 5000 Ford S.O.R.V's are Ford Rangers - powered by the Mazda 2.5L turbo diesel engine - manufactured in Thailand and modified by Global Fleet Sales. First deliveries were in June 2003.

By the way the ANP [Afghan National Police] has selected the Ford Ranger SORV (with modified suspension, 24 volt system, light bar, PA and spotlight, roll bar) as their primary police vehicle. About 800 units are in country now, with lots more to come.
