The most popular type of All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) in the United States (and quite possibly the world) is the utility ATV. It is the work-horse of the All Terrain world. This ATV is used widely on ranches and farms, in emergency services, in factories and just about every pit lane on every (professional or amateur) race track in the country.
These ATVs are heavier than their sport class siblings. They are designed for heavy hauling, towing and traversing rugged terrain, compared to quick acceleration and handling at high speeds like sport quads.
Utility ATVs Arenât Horsing Around
Utility ATVs can be equipped with a very broad range of accessories to help with just about any project for which you might need the help of an ATV. Or a horse for that matter. Utility All Terrain Vehicles are literally replacing horses and mules in ever increasing areas of the farming and ranching industries, among others.
The possibilities are nearly endless when it comes to different ways to use an ATV as a tool. They can pull trailers and most are equipped with a type of rack for securing heavy cargo. Items like winches (electric pulleyâs with cables capable of pulling up to several thousand pounds) and trailers are some of the first items one might consider when it comes time to buy accessories for your ATV.
Utility ATVs like the Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4 are much bigger than most other All Terrain Vehicles. They have the largest displacement motor of any production quad weighing in at 800cc for the largest models. There are smaller ones available, which are also very capable and powerful machines.
Safety Still Applies to Slower Utility ATVs
Utility All Terrain Vehicles have bigger motors and can pull very heavy loads. They produce more power at lower speeds than sport quads.
Even though they are slower and seemingly more stable, caution is still very important and all safety precautions should be used when using a utility ATV. Helmets, goggles, gloves and boots, along with long pants and a long sleeve shirt are important to keep you safe.
While Utility ATVs are designed for working, they are still very popular in recreation, especially in trail riding, mud bogging, and more.
