Who’s This Book For?
This 323-page book is subtitled “How To Use Your 4WD Off Highway” and bills itself as a handbook for first-timers to experienced 4-wheelers.

Truth be told, it’s definitely a handbook. And, its target audience is definitely 4-wheelers. However, I’m guessing that most experienced 4-wheelers will appreciate this book more for its candid humor and wit than for the actual practical guidelines found within its pages. Most experienced 4-wheelers would find the tips in here to be somewhat basic, especially when compared to the actual experience of being off-road and figuring it out for yourself.

That said, this review is geared toward novice 4-wheelers who have treaded relatively few off-highway routes and those who have yet to leave the highway.
