Backspacing is the distance from the back of your rim to the frame.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 20 minutes
Here's How:
- Jack up one corner of your vehicle. Make sure that one of the wheels on the ground is blocked in the front and in the rear of the tire so the vehicle doesn't move.
- Remove the wheel you raised off the ground.
- Lay the wheel flat on the ground with the part of the rim that faces out, face down.
- Place a straight edge across the inside of the rim.
- Use a tape measure, yardstick or ruler to measure from the stud holes to the straight edge resting on the rim.
- The distance from the stud holes to the staight edge is backspacing.
Tips:
- The tire should no interfere with the straight edge. You can let air out of the tire if needed.
