RX 300
Guide picks
Introduced in 1999, following are RX 300 news and reviews from a number of sources. (1999-2004 model years are indicated in parentheses.)

Car Review (All Years)
Reviews and ratings of the Lexus RX300 (all years). These reviews are written by the owners themselves.

Car Survey (All Years)
Here's what owners of the Lexus RX300 think of their vehicles -- all years are covered.

MSN Carpoint (All Years)
See what owners think of their Lexus RX300's from previous model years.

Edmunds (2004)
The upcoming 2004 model promises the same Lexus luxury with some added utility thrown in for good measure. A larger 3.3-liter V6 engine will not only force a name change to RX 330, it should provide a little more grunt from under the hood, as well.

Consumer Guide (2003)
Now in the final year of its current design, Lexus's car-based SUV makes its sunroof standard instead of optional.

Edmunds (2003)
Well-appointed interior, perfect road manners, excellent crash test results, optional four-wheel drive.

Epinions (2003)

Automotive.com (2002)
More a tall car than a truck-like SUV, the RX 300 nonetheless delivered the SUV attributes most urban/suburban buyers wanted: a high seating position, generous, versatile cargo capacity, and all-weather traction.

Edmunds (2002)
Allergic to major off-highway work, cumbersome LCD screen in center of dash, feels more like a minivan than an SUV.

Epinions (2002)

MSN Carpoint (2002)
New for 2002: Available Lexus Navigation System is upgraded with a faster computer for faster route calculations, expanded map database and two languages.

National Highway Traffic Safety Admin (2002)
Crash test results for the 2002 Lexus RX300 4-DR. 4x4 model.

New Car Test Drive (2002)
The RX 300's near-instant success quickly inspired imitators, including the Acura MDX, BMW X5, and Buick Rendezvous. Still, the RX 300 remains one of the top contenders. It delivers a smooth on-road ride, fine handling, a quiet interior and a responsive V6 engine.

The Car Connection (2002)
On-road ride is very good, but handling is somewhat compromised by the tall ride height. This is probably due to a desire to preserve some off-road capability.

Yahoo Autos (2002)
The 2002 RX 300 is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury sport-utility, available in two trims, the Front Wheel Drive and the Four Wheel Drive. The 2002 RX 300's closest competitors include the Acura MDX and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Automotive.com (2001)
A smooth, sophisticated "on-road" sport-utility.

Car Buying Strategies (2001)
This vehicle is a perfect choice for those who like the look and feel of sport utility vehicles with all the bells and whistles, and drive both in the city and on the highways.

Epinions (2001)
See what owners of the 2001 Lexus RX300 think of their vehicles -- the good and the bad.

National Highway Traffic Safety Admin (2001)
Crash test results for the 2001 Lexus RX300 4-DR. 4x4 model.

New Car Test Drive (2001)
RX 300 can be equipped with either full-time four-wheel drive for poor weather driving conditions, or front-wheel drive. It's not built for optimal off-road adventures.

Popular Mechanics (2001)
The interior includes such Lexus luxury touches as high-grade leather trim and a seven-speaker audio system. An innovative rear seat design slides forward and aft to provide maximum rear seat legroom or cargo capacity.

The Auto Channel (2001)
The suspension is independent both front and rear, and it's built using the platform of the front-drive Lexus ES 300 sedan. One RX 300 model uses front-wheel drive, but the best one to have is the one with full-time all-wheel-drive.

Automotive.com (2000)
It offers sure traction in foul weather and responsive handling on paved and unpaved roads. It provides a smooth ride, maneuverability in crowded parking lots, and easy access to its luxurious interior.

Epinions (2000)
See what owners of the 2000 Lexus RX300 think of their vehicles -- the good and the bad.

New Car Test Drive (2000)
RX 300 is not the ultimate off-road vehicle, but it handles corners well and offers good performance on unpaved roads and heavy snowfall.
