Lexus was the first luxury carmaker to throw its hat into the SUV arena when they launched the 1996 LX 450 luxury sport utility vehicle. The LX 450 was replaced with the LX 470 in 1998. The RX 300 SUV entered the scene in 1999. In 2003, Lexus added yet another luxury sport-ute to the list: the GX 470.
