Where to Go Camping With ATVs and Four-Wheelers

With more and more off-roading areas closing every year, it's getting difficult to find places close to home where you can ride ATVs, 4x4s, and other OHVs (off-highway vehicles). One solution is to expand your search and make a trip of it by camping out at or near riding areas and trails. Here is a list of where you can go throughout the United States.

Some of these trails are meant for straight-up riding, while others will challenge rock crawlers and river runners. Others offer a mix of terrain so you can do a little bit of everything.

Before you go, make sure to check out the rules of the road for your particular area, that everyone in your party is a safe and knowledgeable rider, and that your vehicle is ready for the trip. Also, make sure that you are familiar with the region's geography and weather, and pack accordingly. If you live close to any of these spots, you might be able to ride there on your four-wheeler with your food, water, and camping gear. If you want to explore trails away from home, load your vehicles on a trailer or the back of a pickup and drive (or rent your OHVs when you get to your destination). The latter is an especially good option if you'd like to take day trips to other locations that don't allow off-road vehicles.
