Jeep Wrangler Climbing Rocks on a Mountain

Two Jeep Wranglers recently set a new world record for high altitude climbing in South America as they scaled Ojos del Salado, a mountain range in Chile, South America.
The climb was officially the highest by an internal combustion located in the South American mountain range of Chile. The two vehicles climbed 6,646 meters (21,804 feet) above sea level, allowing them to set the record of the highest altitude ever reached by a 4x4.
George Murphy, Chrysler Group Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, said
This was exactly the challenge to separate the new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited from all other 4x4 vehicles.
We are very proud that the Jeep wrangler unlimited was the first vehicle to be able to complete such a rigorous challenge, and believe that it really does set the vehicle apart from its competition.
I contend that, while it's nice that the Jeep Wangler took on this challenge, it's not something we ever doubted.

That looks suspiciously like a YJ… Not an unlimited… hmmm .. just another official from chrysler shooting off his mouth?
Just build a Wrangler with a Diesel and make everybody happy!!!
Rant off
Thanks for the reply. I guess I should have specified… that is a YJ. And it’s in Ocotillo, not South America.
I don’t have any of my own picts of an unlimited and well, I don’t like using other people’s picts unless I have to.
BTW, Jeep does build a Wrangler with a diesel. Unfortunately there are no current plans to bring them to the US.
Jeeps With Diesel Power and Performance Won’t be Wheeling in North America

this is flawed because in On April 21, 2007, the Chilean duo of Gonzalo Bravo and Eduardo Canales drove their modified Suzuki Samurai (SJ413) up Ojos del Salado, past the previous record set by a Jeep at 6,646 meters (21,804 ft), setting a new record for the highest altitude attained by a four-wheeled vehicle at 6,688 meters (21,942 ft).
