ATV riders in Minnesota are now required to purchase an ATV Trail Pass in order to operate quads in the state.

The ATV State Trail Pass does not need to be displayed while riding, but you must have it with you and present it to officials upon request. The law took effect in Jan., 2010.

As long as the machine is registered in Minnesota or the land being ridden on belongs to the immediate family of the rider, a pass is not required.

If you plan on riding in Minnesota, you can buy a pass online at www.mndnr.gov and click on "buy a license." link. You can also buy one using a credit card over the phone 24/6 by calling 888-665-4236 or in person by visiting one of the DNR Electronic License Systems located throughout Minnesota.
