As we reach the end of summer the NOAA announced the return of El Nino for the winter of 2009-2010.
This climate activity happens every few years and lasts for about a year. It happens as Pacific ocean temperatures increase which tends to force rainy weather down from the north closer to the equator.
This means different things for different areas. If you're in the southern United States, you may experience more rain and cooler temperatures. Rain is a good thing even if it impedes the southwest's ability to ride.
It should be warmer in Canada and Alaska with less rain in the pacific northwest. For this typically grey, soggy area it means a bit of drying up, which will be good for the soul.
Even if el Nino makes conditions worse where you are, that's no excuse for not getting out there and making the best of it!

i live in north carolina and i want to know if we are going to have a bad winter.
