2 Stroke vs 4 Stroke ATV Engines: The Real Differences

Tuesday July 14, 2009

There are a few debates that seem to go on forever. Corvette or Mustang, Cannon or Nikon, PC or Mac.

Another great debate that is carried out by gear-heads around the world is that of 2 stroke engines or 4 stroke engines.

The differences in the two are basic and simple, and just like the person who's driven both Corvettes AND Mustangs will tell you, you really can't compare the two in a general sense because they're in two different classes, much like Choppers are in a different class than Sport Bikes.

And the differences probably aren't what you'd think. Read the article then come back and give your own opinions.

Well I for one am still heart broken that Yamaha decided to not produce the street legal version of their TZ 700/750 road racer in 1971, The GL 750. I had seen it in a motorcycle magazine a year earlier and has already worked my buns off to save money to buy one! When they decided not to produce the 750 four cylinder two stroke fuel injected motorcycle I pretty much never got over it. I loved the wail of the big bore multi-cylinder two stroke much the same way many people loved the sound of the big V-twins. I love the idea of new two stroke engines, the power and weight factor at the very least get my vote! YES! to new big bore two strokes!
