California Legislators Want to Use (More) OHV Funds to Run State Parks That Forbid OHV Use!
Here we go again. the Fed is set to take more money from the California OHV Trust Fund which, by the way, is one of the only State programs that is self-funded, and use it to fund State Parks that DONT ALLOW OHV USE. That money is collected from OHVers gas taxes, registration and entrance fees to State Vehicle Recreation Areas (SVRAs).
Back in May, California's Governor took $90,000,000.00 from the same fund and used it in the General Fund and it was subsequently sacrificed to the "budget crisis". This is unfair considering I have not heard of any of the money ever being paid back.
The American Motorcyclist Association is up in arms about this, as well they should be!
When will this madness stop? Why destroy one of the only successful and fully self funded programs in the state? Instead, our representatives are looking to steal the money of hard working OHV recreating families. The leaders of this state should attempt to emulate the success of the OHV program in order to properly fund other non OHV State Park facilites that are in need of operating funds
They have provided a list of people for you to call to let them know you don't want OHV Trust Fund money to go to non-OHV State Parks.
